Today on Better Call Sexton, we got a lot of non-monogamy, some ethical, some unethical.

Is it right to trash your spouse?

Is it okay to do it if you're on funny time or if you're not funny?

When is it acceptable?

When is it not?

It's a full docket.

You're going to want to stick around.

But first, like, subscribe, hit that notification bell.

We are danger close to 100,000.

We might even be there by the time you see this.

Bless my heart.

But let's get after it.

All right, Jim, we begin today at a place where we began many times.

Call her daddy.

I can't wait.

It's going to be so exciting.

She's not a show.

I just, the hair is in the back of my neck.

I get the ick, as you youngins say.

Well, she's gone viral once again, this time with guest Nikki Glaser, a very funny comedian, successful comic.

And she was explaining how she is okay with her husband having relationships outside of their marriage.

Let's play the clip.

I sometimes don't like to tell guys about this thing that I have where I'm like, you know, this is separate than the soulmate thing.

Like, I don't care if a guy has a sexual connection with a girl and, like, he was to use protection and just have sex with her for a night.

Like, I don't...

I literally wouldn't care if my husband did that.

I don't know why.

I don't know why.

If he were to, like, watch The Wire with her or, like...

do crossword puzzles or like text like send memes and stuff I would be like what the fuck are you doing like that's our thing like emotional cheating would hurt me but like physical I'm just like

I kind of, I just feel like I understand how sex is for men most of the time.

She also goes on to explain she's competitive, so she likes that other women like her husband.

And this started with an ex-boyfriend that she now does.

So your thoughts on the non-monogamous life of Nikki Glaser?

You know, here's what I'll say.

First of all, I like Nikki Glaser.

I think she's funny.

She's tremendous, too.

crushed it.

Tom Brady was like, she's been in the game a long time.

She's been funny for a long time.

She's done some great work.

But the Tom Brady thing was like her coming out party of just blowing it up.

And she's really leveraged it.

And I'm applauding for her every step of the way.

I think this was actually a really interesting interview.

I think it was really honest.

And I really, really like.

I think we are entering a moment in this culture, and I think I'm part of it, where people like authenticity.

People like when people just say shit out loud.

And they go, oh my God, I can't believe you said that.

That's not what you're supposed to think.

And people really, and this was that kind of interview.

I really thought there was, I totally, even if you disagree with her perspective, even if you don't feel the same way as her in your relationship, you got to admire the honesty and candor of what she's saying here.

Saying that she considers, all right, sex, like kissing, sex with protection, whatever.

Like, that's important, but like it's, you know, neither of us were virgins when we got together.

Like, is that really that important?

But like the real intimacies of the relationship are, you know, you watch The Wire with this person, you send the memes, you do crossword puzzles.

Like it was such a real list.

Like that's a list of real things in her real relationship that she feels like, oh, these are our special things together.

And look, think about it.

I think those intimacies, those like little vulnerable,

really like, you know, dialed in things that people do in relationship, like watching a favorite show together.

I mean, I have to tell you, if you've been in a relationship and you're watching a show together and then that person watches an episode without you, it's like, how?

That's cheating.

Betrayal.

That is betrayal of the highest order.

Like if you watch Game of Thrones, if you were an episode ahead of me and then you're like, oh no, I already watched it.

How dare you?

Couldn't you have just gone out and slept with another man?

You know, instead, you're going to be a step

ahead of me on this is terrible.

This is unbelievable.

So yeah, I think I know what she was saying on that.

I get it.

I think a lot of us get it.

Again, we may all prioritize different things in different ways.

We got all the right to do that.

The second thing she talked about a lot, I think it was funny because my friend Mike Sartain does Men of Action and he's one of these people that does a lot of evolutionary biology stuff.

We don't agree on everything, but our views align on some things.

And one of the things Mike talks about all the time is hypergamy and female selection and how they select for mates.

And he is constantly talking about the point that she made.

But of course, it's being made on Call Her Daddy by a hilarious comedian.

So it's going to get a different audience than Mike's content, which gets a mostly male audience.

Although I think women would do well to sort of follow some of the trends that he talks about because they end up popping up in these other places.

But Nicki is basically talking about something that people have been talking about in the red pill space or the manosphere space for quite some time.

And that is that, you know, women like desirable men.

Like women like men who other women like.

When women go out and compete, they compete against other women.

Like, you're not carrying a Birkin bag because you think a man's gonna look at it and go, wow, what a lovely bag she has.

Like, if a man thinks that, he's probably gay.

So that's great, it's totally fine, love having some gay friends.

But the truth is, a man has never been like, she's attractive, but that choice of bag really isn't right.

Like I just don't see a heterosexual man making mate selection that way.

So what is it really about?

It's about competing with other women.

It's about showing themselves as high value.

I have high value items.

I purchased this because I'm a girl boss or I have a man who bought this for me as a sign of his adoration of me.

These are all things that you want other women to envy you for and you compete

with men do too.

How much can you bench?

How much can you squat?

How much do you make?

What watch do you wear?

These are all ways we compete with our same gender or our same people in the dating pool.

Now again, what is she saying here?

I don't want a guy who no other women want.

I want a guy who lots of women want and I've got him.

He's coming home to me.

And you know what, even if he like hooks up with this one or hooks up with that one, he comes home to me and watches The Wire and does crossword puzzles and sends me memes because I'm his girl, I'm his ride or die.

I get that.

And I certainly get that women and men both want someone who other people want.

You want to be with a desire.

And men in this, I've never understood when men get upset

that women who they're in relationships with are out being admired by other men.

Don't you want to be with a woman who other men want and you have?

That seems like a really, like if the person you're with, like, I don't know what would be more depressing,

opening your partner's phone and looking in their DMs and seeing that no one is trying to slide into them, or seeing that someone's sliding into them and that your partner's responding.

I think the latter would be more of a betrayal, but hearing crickets and finding that no one is interested in this person,

be something that's upsetting for a rational person because you want to be with someone who you find desirable and potentially others find desirable as well, but you can know is yours.

So I thought this was a big W for Nikki.

I think it's great that she's having a moment right now.

I think she's been in the game a long time, but I love this level of honesty.

I love this level of candor, vulnerability, good comics.

Any of the good comics, Jesselnik, you know, he pops to mind immediately, Louis C.K., Pete Davidson, so many good comics.

They're just not afraid to say the thing that they're risking sounding crazy or they're risking sounding totally bizarre.

And then they say it and people go, oh shit, oh my God, I totally have thought that.

And this was one of those moments where it was like, as a great comic, she had the bravery to just say this thing.

And I think it's something a lot of women have thought, which is, I don't want a dude who no other women want.

I want a dude who a lot of women want.

You know what?

I don't know that I consider like sex or hooking up with a woman the ultimate betrayal.

I think there's different intimacies.

I think this was the kind of candor that makes her a good comic.

It makes her a great guest.

And I think we're going to see more of this from more people in the coming years.

She also did it in a very, like she said, use protection, be respectful of the third party.

It wasn't like, just go anybody and everybody.

Yeah, and I also think she's shooting from the hip in this moment.

Like, I don't know if it's really, really true that she would have like, no, it wouldn't blip on her emotional radar.

And I don't even know that it's true in her relationship.

I think what she's saying is, look, hypothetically, I wouldn't really have a big issue with this.

Yeah, these are fantasies, man.

These are things that people fantasize.

And look, you can say, this would bother me, this wouldn't bother me, or I would definitely break up with this person, or I wouldn't.

Okay, that's a theory.

Let's see what you do in actual practice, because if it actually happened to you, it might feel very different than the way you think it's gonna feel, positive or negative.

You know, it might be that someone cheats and you go, hey, I don't wanna throw away this relationship, everything that's good in it for this mistake or this one bad thing this person did.

I don't judge this person by the totality based on one thing that they did wrong, but,

maybe you can't get past it.

And maybe you learn and experience like, oh, I really can't do this.

You know, the new season of Temptation Island is on and I am all in.

So I am all in.

I watched the first episode.

We have to do a whole, we have to cancel this show and do a whole show.

Next episode.

Just on it.

Tune in, we'll talk about it.

My job, I'm going to give up the practice of law and just full-time react to Love on the Spectrum.

Let's go!

The dream has been fulfilled!

And Temptation Island.

The prophecy has been fulfilled.

But I'm not even going to close up my cases.

They're just going to be in the courtroom for the custody trial, and they'll be like, where's Sexton?

And I'm just going to be sitting there and watching Netflix.

It's going to be a

Before we move on, because there's another scandal to dive into.

She is getting some negative attention from women listeners.

Yes.

It's pick me.

It's a red flag.

It's, you know, all that.

Yes.

Which, you know, I feel like you can't pick and choose where you apply your feminism.

You're good.

Listen, you can't say anything wrong.

honest on the internet and not have 50 people go, I didn't believe that's true.

Or 50 people say, well, I disagree with you.

Okay, knock yourself the ass.

Why?

Just don't read the comments, man.

Because honestly, you're going to find a bunch of people that just have nothing positive to say.

And they say X, Y, and Z.

Well, I would never do that.

Cool.

Then you'd be interesting enough to get interviewed on Caller Daddy.

And then you can say whatever the you want to say.

And maybe we'll comment on it.

Or maybe we'll all be living our successful lives.

Also, you know, I think what that fantasy takes is a lot of security, confidence.

Like, she's like, I know you're going to come back to me.

Of course.

And I think the women who don't think that about their partner, they're the ones who are upset by this.

Because you couldn't pull it off.

100%.

100%.

And look, that's why I actually made the Temptation Island references.

There's all, all I keep thinking when I watch that show is, so just break up with him or just break up with her.

You're the, oh, he's so terrible.

Well, you're the idiot who's in a relationship with him.

So break up with him.

A lot of these people are like 22, 23.

They're like, we've been together a whole eight months.

They're like,

Are you kidding me?

People walk out of marriages where there's children because they're less happy than this.

What are you fighting for?

What are you doing?

Like, it's this bad eight months in?

Like, just bail.

There's eight billion people in the world.

But the same thing with this.

Like, look, you know, Nikki Glaser knows she's attractive.

She's smart.

She's funny.

She's successful.

She's a public figure.

She's making a couple of bucks.

You know what?

If a guy thinks he can do better, knock yourself the f*** out.

Like, I really think you have to have the confidence in a relationship to go, listen, if you want what we're serving at this restaurant, it's available to you.

If you want something else, walk the f*** out.

Like, that's okay.

You're not the first person.

You're not the last person if that's how you approach it.

But I think that the more you have that attitude, in men, you know, we call that big f*** energy.

In women, I don't know what, we don't have a term for it, but there should be a term for it.

A woman who knows her value and has the attitude of, listen, I'm here, I'm in.

But if this makes you insecure, listen, move on.

And they call it a girl boss.

Girl boss is like red pill.

It's taken on too much of a meaning.

It's just awful.

Look guys, we spent a lot of time on this show talking about men and women and what it is we find appealing about each other.

One of the things I've talked about over and over again is how one of the most appealing things a man can do is have his together.

All right, we're heading over to the sports world.

We have a relationship scandal that has taken over the NFL.

Diana Rossini, who is an NFL reporter, insider, and Mike Rabel, who is the coach of the New England Patriots.

God, the Patriots coaches, man.

They always find a way.

God, they're not getting off in massage parlors or dating way under their age limit there.

What are they?

What's going on?

New England.

What are you?

I came from Massachusetts.

I did see a tweet that had four pictures and it said like the exactly what you're describing, the New England men.

And it was Brady and Alex Earl together.

It was Belichick and his young girlfriend.

It was these two.

And then a picture of Bob Kraft and two old Asian women.

Aren't you supposed to just be out of Dunkin' Donuts, getting a latch, you know?

And instead you're out here doing all this.

Crazy.

So, Brable and Rossini were out in Sedona in like a resort.

Lovely.

And they got sniped from what some people are saying is paparazzi pictures.

Other people are saying this might be a PI, that this looks very private investigator-esque.

Holding hands, laying by the pool.

Canoodling is the word.

Honestly, this is kind of I think what Nikki Glaser like this is more cheating than sleeping together.

They're so intimate and cozy.

Yeah.

And now, you know, now this is really blown up.

And I think this is kind of the ultimate cliche of of finding someone in the workplace.

Right.

She is.

I'll tell you right now, she's not her Shake Shack discount card is going to get taken away.

She's married to one of the executives from Shake Shack.

And yeah, she's going to have to get her special sauce elsewhere.

That is, uh, that is rough, man.

So what do you have to say for people?

Like, I mean, I would imagine Jersey girls, man, you got to run.

Oh, you know what I mean?

Either run towards them or away from them.

You got to know what you're getting into.

You know what I mean?

She's born in the Bronx, lives in Jersey.

Come on.

Not to be trifled with.

You know what's going on here.

This new England doesn't know what's hitting it.

Yeah.

Literally.

Um,

Yeah, I mean, look, you know, this is the private lives of public figures.

This is, you know, power.

You know, what makes a person attractive to another person is often power, reach, success, those kinds of things.

You know, these are private things that happen in marriages.

Who knows what their arrangement is?

Who knows what's going on in that relationship?

You know, she's married to an executive, a successful executive.

You know, it may be that they're on the outs.

I have a lot of clients that I'm representing that people don't know their relationship is over because they're public figures and they don't want to make it public or because they have children.

They don't want the children to know.

But this could be one of those kinds of situations.

I generally think it's best to sort of let these things cool.

Somebody's after these people.

I mean, there's no way the paparazzi are just like taking telephoto shots of these two

This isn't Leo DiCaprio.

This isn't somebody big.

This is somebody who's up for this.

But again, there's enough married people in this equation that it could be any number of people.

Or it could just be somebody with a vendetta against someone else.

These are people who are high level.

or anybody really in the high level.

I've represented a lot of people, both athletes and people within the organizations.

These are huge multi-billion dollar corporations.

Like if you look at a team and a franchise, there are a lot of people employed by a franchise.

It's like Jay-Z said, I'm not a businessman, I'm a businessman.

Like that is a fact.

Like the Patriots is a business, a real business.

The Yankees are a business.

And when you represent people very high up in those organizations,

There are people that, you know, most people wouldn't know their name, but they are very high level executives and they are very they have enemies.

You cannot cultivate that amount of power and not cultivate some enemies.

In the same vein, though, I think a very talented and successful NFL coach is probably going to be able to withstand this and skate by 100%.

Whereas an NFL reporter insider who is now being painted as someone who, you know, sleeps with a coach, maybe for access or info.

There's all these pictures of her with other athletes and people in the world coming up.

I feel like that's a credibility.

Yeah.

I mean, it damages credit journalists.

Really what you have is your credibility, like a high level coach, like you're a coach, like people don't really care.

As long as he wins, he can do whatever.

Right, as long as he's winning games, they're like, I don't care if he's killing puppies as a hobby.

Like, so people really just have the attitude of like, as long as he can.

Michael Vick was proof of that.

Like, people were like, listen, I love dogs and all, but this guy, we really need him back on the field.

He's a 99 in Madden, bro.

So it really is.

one of those things that if you can, you know, yeah, I think it's, people are more tied to performance in those things.

That's why I always thought it was funny that, you know, they're like women in men's sports, you know, women should be allowed to like come into the NFL and be like, let me tell you something.

If there was a female quarterback who was a good quarterback and they'd be like,

Absolutely.

We just want to win games.

We don't care.

If somebody was trans, LGBTQ+, they'll put them in a uniform and be like, whatever, man, if you can put together a proper defense, you're in charge.

We're in for it.

So I think that's a real thing.

I think for journalists, yeah, your integrity is a big piece of it.

And again, whether this impacts this person's integrity or not, we see this in politics all the time.

We see reporters who get caught up having an affair or a relationship with a politician.

We saw it with RFK.

We saw it with a bunch of other people where there's allegations of inappropriate communications, inappropriate relationships.

And does it impact this person's credibility?

The reporter usually takes the brunt of it as opposed to the public figure.

Again, is that gender?

I don't think so.

I think it's more a function of the actual role where you're supposed to have some level of neutrality.

Can you speak to how you should handle yourself

when you're basically caught dead to rights.

Yeah, shut your mouth.

Well, so Diana and Vrabel both came out and said, these pictures were out of context.

And The Athletic, who she writes for, at first said, okay, cool.

And then they were like, once we did some digging, now you're suspended while we researched this.

So like, is it worth trying to even deny it when you are this caught?

Yeah, no, rule number one is shut your mouth.

Rule number two is shut your mouth.

Rule number three, seriously, shut your mouth.

There's no value in just owning it?

Like if she came out and said, yes, I got caught?

If you want to own it, own it in the Bill O'Reilly way.

Like own it in the wait until all the information is out there, all the ammo has been fired.

And then you once have one thing to say, this is a private matter.

It says nothing to do with my professional life.

I will not comment on it again.

Mistakes were made.

That's it.

I have no specific recollection of any wrongdoing, although I acknowledge mistakes may have been made.

I'd like to move forward past this unfortunate incident.

That's it.

Like, just say nothing.

Say nothing.

Because I'm telling you, when you say, oh, this was taken out of context, now the wolves come out.

Like, the sharks smell blood in the water.

Everybody's like, all right, let's see what was taken.

Oh, you're laying by the pool together.

Was that out of context?

What else was that?

This is what people do on cross-examination.

They don't want to give in on a little issue, so they open the door to me just destroying their credibility for bigger issues.

Don't do it.

Just no comment.

Or if you have to comment, it should be a very broad-based comment.

Like, look, these are private matters.

I'm not going to comment on them.

Or, listen, mistakes may have been made.

I'm not going to discuss this publicly.

Like, that's it.

Like, there's any number of ways to say something without actually saying something, but no admissions, no denials.

Don't give them anything of substance because it is not, again, never explain.

Your friends don't need it.

Your enemies won't believe it.

There's no point.

The other element of this story, and it goes together nicely with a second story we're going to talk about here is basically speaking, speaking poorly about your partner, because a big part of this Diana Rossini story is there is now a montage of clips of her talking about how bad her marriage is and how her husband is very normal and nothing special.

And that goes along also with Brooks Nader.

She's kind of being portrayed as the new Kim Kardashian, or at least wants to be.

And one of her previous lovers came out and said that it was the worst sex that he's ever had.

Wow.

And that he she grabbed him by the neck.

And when she went to kiss him, chipped his tooth.

So we're going to play a couple of clips here of just people talking poorly about their partner.

I'm married to someone average.

I don't post a lot about him.

If I was married to someone beautiful, I'd over post, too.

You know who lets me know my marriage is falling apart?

My mom.

No, I do things in Miami I haven't even told my husband because it's just I had that much fun.

Well, not like that.

I knew he would judge the kind of partying I was doing.

I don't know what got into me.

She looks like such a soccer mom.

I know.

For 12 days, I'm not going to sleep.

I'm not going to eat.

My family's going to hate me.

My husband's going to threaten divorce, but we've signed up for this.

And we're getting divorced at the end of the year.

We've never been more disconnected in our lives.

Our text messages look like two robots.

Love you.

Any of that?

Love you?

Love you too?

No.

Not even an emoji.

And so the night before my wedding, I remember Jimmy was great.

He made like a funny joke like, hey, it's the night before your wedding.

You sure you want to do this?

And I'm thinking like, of all the people in my life that I'm going to talk to the night before my wedding, the one guy my dad wanted me to, or my mom wanted me to marry was Jimmy Garoppolo.

Jesus, I call this job security.

Yeah, this is great.

Great for you, buddy.

This is just, this is how not to.

Yeah, this was talking about a marriage.

This one's talking more about a hookup, but I think all in the same vein.

Crazy.

You said it.

Bro, when I dated her, it was pretty bad.

Probably the worst sex in my life.

Wait, how long?

Like seven months, maybe?

She chipped my tooth.

How?

She was so fucked up.

She wanted to make out with me, and I was like, that's not my vibe.

She choked me, pushed me again with the wall, chipped my tooth.

Two examples of people on the internet, on shows, just talking poorly.

One, a husband, one, a hookup.

There's so much to unpack there.

Yeah, let's go.

First of all, she...

I wanted to start with the, she wanted to kiss me, and I was like, that's not my vibe?

Wait, is that a thing?

Like, they'd be like, listen, kissing is not my, is he in Pretty Woman?

Oh my God, is he Julia Roberts?

Like, he's like, kissing is too intimate.

I'm saving that for my marriage.

Like, and then she just grabbed him by the throat, and like, you know, I don't know.

I want to see that movie.

I want to see that clip.

He grabbed him by the throat.

With a chipped tooth?

Tooth at the end?

Like, this is violence.

Like, what is going on?

Like, there's a lot happening here.

I would watch a couple of seasons of that show.

That's pretty good, you know?

So, and then it segues into the worst sex ever.

Like, you would kind of think we could throw, grab and chip and teeth.

Like, if you were like, dude, I had a night with this girl, I chipped my tooth.

You'd be like, yeah, that was a good night, buddy.

Like, you gotta, that would be well worth chipping your teeth, you know?

But wow, yeah, I don't even know where to go there.

And then on the opposite end of that spectrum,

That greatest hits or worst hits.

And there's like 10 more, dude.

It keeps going.

Yeah, no, they're done.

You don't need to be Sigmund Freud to figure out that exit visas are imminent on that relationship.

Do you allow any grace, though, for comedians, podcasters, YouTubers, where you are entertaining, you are maybe telling jokes, you're speaking some truths, or should it be- What if it was funny?

Like if it was funny, like if you're funny, like if you want to make jokes, like whenever some of the real housewives do this one a lot where they're like, oh, it was a joke.

And I'm like, no, no, a joke is funny.

Like it has to be funny for it to be a joke.

I couldn't be like, you're just such a stupid whore.

What?

That was a joke!

Come on!

You didn't get that?

Like, it's not a joke.

That wasn't a joke.

There was nothing funny about those jokes.

I didn't hear anything in those segments that I was like, that's a real knee slapper.

You know, I think if she was saying something about her spouse, like, oh, you know, my spouse is bad in bed, and then it segued in to a really funny joke, it's like, okay, that's a setup.

Like, I love stand-up, but I always thought, like,

Segways are just annoying sometimes, but they're like, you know, I was in the airport last week.

You're like, shut up and do your joke.

You weren't in the airport last week.

Just do your joke about airports.

Go ahead.

Like you don't have to, the Segway, we don't need all that.

Like that's a lot of foreplay none of us asked for.

So I get it, but I think in this situation, no.

I think she's like, she's using this as like, she's doing the same thing Nikki Glaser did,

just telling on herself.

Like, she's like, my husband's awful.

You're like, wow, okay, it's good that you're being honest, I guess.

Like, you're not, you know, you're showing your true self, but is this a self that anybody's going to really want to see?

Well, to me, like, speaking poorly about your

partner is something I think a lot of people fall into and ultimately deeply regret lately.

Even if you're in the right, even... Not to keep bringing it back to Temptation Island, but I'm gonna.

I'm gonna keep bringing it back there.

That's how good this season is.

It really, I was watching it the other day and I thought to myself, because there's, you know, I love the first bonfire because the first bonfire where they watch the first videos of their partners, it's always amazing because the women...

always see some very innocuous thing and are like, well, that's it.

All bets are off.

So they've now found a way to make them cheating his fault.

You know, it's like, did you see how he laughed at that girl's joke?

I'm not going to be disrespected like that.

I'm going to go this guy.

And then they're like, well, see what you made me do when you were laughing at that girl's joke.

And somehow by the last bonfire, the guy's like, I'm really sorry.

I didn't, I just thought it was funny, like what she said.

Like, but you're right.

It was fair that you had to sleep with that guy, those two guys.

Like, I get it.

So it's one of those things that when you're watching it, one of the,

The first bonfires,

You sometimes see people like, you know, like doing like dirty dancing or doing a lap dance.

They all do the like truth or dare thing where they say some like boorish thing and they get so worked up about that.

But then there are these clips that they show where the person's like, yeah, he's like the worst.

I don't know.

He's just like, he used to be so nice and now he's just the worst and I'm just so unhappy with him.

And I find myself watching that and going, okay, if your partner's saying that shit about you, just end it.

And it's over.

It's over.

You just met some guy or just met some girl and you spend an hour trashing your partner to them.

Get out of that relationship.

Run.

Just literally run.

Find the exit sign and run.

Because you got stormy waters ahead of you.

That's going to do it for today's show.
